Gears of War

So, this is the game of the moment. I bought it on release, and have played nothing else since. Although my internet isn’t working correctly with xbox live, so I do have problems playing with certain friends. It’s pretty immense to say the least.

Yet another hyper-realistic title for the 360. It uses a 3rd person camera that moves, to make it seem movie-like. The occasional blood spatter can get drenched over the screen. which is allways exciting.

Single-player so far is brilliant. Its well written, and every bullet counts. you really feel as if you are immersed into their world. The enemy are a race called the Locust, who were once human. Fighting them is the Humans, COG.

The Multi-payer is engaging but lacks a lot of variety. The system for hosting games is also nothing new, and needed updating even before Gears adopted it. The system to stop cheaters is to; not allow cheaters to enter game together. Unfortunately this means no-one can enter a game with anyone they know. Not what people expect when playing a game all about teamwork.

Overall the game is breathtaking and fun to play, right now its faults are almost invisible. If other developers pick up on their mistakes it wont be hard to take its position, as the most played Xbox Live game.
